Unconference

About the Unconference

The Unconference is an open and participant-driven session where the community creates the program together. Unlike regular conference sessions that require advance submission and review, Unconference topics are proposed by participants on site.

Registration Guidelines

Starting from 09:00 on each event day, an Unconference registration board will be available near the entrance/check-in area. Participants who would like to give a talk may register their name/nickname, talk title, and session category on the board.

Speaking slots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Day 1 will feature 3 rounds, while Day 2 will feature 6 rounds. Participants registering after all scheduled slots have been filled will be placed on the waitlist according to their registration order.

Session Topics

Professional Talk

You may propose any topic related to Python, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analysis, fintech, healthcare, semiconductors, manufacturing, civic technology, and other professional fields. Advanced topics, such as Python internals, are also highly welcome. If your talk focuses on a specific Python package, we encourage you to highlight widely adopted tools or focus on related best practices and practical applications that may benefit a broader audience.

Community Talk

You may share any non-technical or community-related topic, such as community management, communication, mental well-being, or your own experiences. Stories about innovation, collaboration, success, or failure are all welcome. We also welcome members of other communities to introduce and promote their community activities.

Notes for Speakers

  • Registration is conducted on site via the Unconference board, and speaking slots are assigned in registration order.
  • Please provide your name/nickname, talk title, and session category (Professional Talk / Community Talk) when registering.
  • On Day 1, the first 3 eligible registrants will normally receive speaking slots. Participants registering from the 4th position onward will be placed on the waitlist in registration order.
  • On Day 2, the first 6 eligible registrants will normally receive speaking slots. Participants registering from the 7th position onward will be placed on the waitlist in registration order.
  • Speakers may not present on both Day 1 and Day 2. Anyone who has completed a talk on Day 1 will not be eligible for a speaking or waitlist position on Day 2.
  • Selected speakers must check in at the designated time for a short briefing and topic confirmation before the session.
  • If a selected speaker does not check in on time, withdraws from the session, or is found to be ineligible, the next participant on the waitlist will be invited to take the slot.
  • Talks must fall within the scope of either a Professional Talk or Community Talk and should be consistent with the topic registered on the board.
  • If the actual presentation clearly differs from the registered topic or falls outside the scope of the Unconference, the host may end the presentation and invite the next waitlisted speaker to take the slot.
  • Each round lasts approximately 20 minutes. Speakers are expected to follow the host's time signals so that subsequent rounds can begin on schedule.
  • Speakers using slides, live demos, or other equipment should prepare them in advance. Technical or network issues will generally not result in additional presentation time.
  • All presentations and interactions must comply with the applicable PyCon TW community guidelines and event policies.
